Sailing away tomorrow...

We are in Houston this weekend! We got here Friday night at about 1:00 in the morning. We are here to jump on a cruise tomorrow!

The timing worked out great, though, that we also got to go to a wedding of one of my friend's. I didn't get any pictures myself of the wedding but it was amazing. It was my friend Camille's sister's wedding. Carrie, the bride, reminded me of Princess Kate at her wedding. Just gorgeous and very classically elegant. I got to spend a lot of time with some high school friends and their families. It was a great night!

Today after church and eating out with friends, we went by our friend Robert and Starla's house to see their daughter Rachel's new baby, Tyce. He is so cute and snuggly!

Tonight, we'll get to hang out with some family friends at my parent's house and then tomorrow morning we are heading for Galveston to the port!

Our cruise is with Carnival and we will make a stop in Progeso, Yucatan, and Cozumel, Mexico. We don't plan on doing any excursions because of the dangers of being in Mexico right now. We are mostly just excited about the cruise itself. Kanyon has never been on one before and I haven't been on one in 6 years so we're excited to be getting away for a while.

I hope you have a great week!

Back at Work

I wrote this post the beginning of this week and never got around to adding the pictures! So here I am finally posting it.

______________________________________________________________________________

Clearly I took a break from blogging and didn't know it since its been almost two weeks since I've blogged. We had a lot going on and then not a lot going on so I guess there's my excuse?

Since the last time I blogged was the 7th, a Wednesday, I'll start with the day after, which was when my Mom (and dad the next day) came into town! Mom's birthday is March 9th, so she wanted to come see me for it. On Thursday, Kanyon and I picked her up and went out to eat in Midland. We were supposed to be meeting up with a couple of friends but neither of them ended up being able to come. But we ate good regardless!

Friday, Mom came and hung out with me at work a little and then my office closed a little early. So we came home and decided to go and visit Kanyon's mom's house. Kanyon's sister, Jada and her husband Nick and their kids were in town for Grandad's birthday. And another of Kanyon's sisters, Sena and her husband and kids are living with Kanyon's parents while waiting for their contract to go through on their house in Lamesa. So there were a lot of people there to go visit. While there, I made a cheesecake for Mom's birthday. It was a chocolate and regular flavored swirled cheesecake with a chocolate ganache frosting. Vaughn made it for my birthday in January and I wanted to make it again! We planned on eating it that night after Mom's birthday dinner. Well that didn't work out because Dad's plane got delayed and he didn't get in until 11:00 or so. But don't worry, we cut into that cake real quick and then headed for bed!

Saturday, we went to Grandad's 80th birthday party! It was a great party with lots of food and lots of people who came out to celebrate. There were several sweet toasts from family and we were all thankful to be able to show Grandad how much we love him.

The rest of the day was spent hanging out with family and relaxing and then finally having Mom's birthday dinner and Vaughn and Kalith came over after for birthday cake!

The next day at church, Nick, Jada's husband, preached and he did such a great job. I've never heard him speak like that and it was really good.

And then that afternoon, we had a birthday party for Addalie! Addalie is Sena's daughter who turned three this week. Sena had a cute ice cream themed party for the kids and then they rode horses that afternoon.

See those ice cream cones on the table? Sena baked red velvet cake inside them and put icing on top to make them look like ice cream! And the kids each got their own ice cream bowl to put actual ice cream in them.

Asher enjoying birthday cake, with both cake and his pacifier in his mouth!

Mom snuggling with Ainsley Grayce, who started smiling this week!

Mama Brown, Daresa, and Cory!

Al and my dad chatting.

Some swing time outside.

The kids love riding the horses at Nana and Papa's!

After the party, my parents had to head to the airport so we said our goodbyes to them. The next week was a little uneventful. I only had to work Monday and Tuesday! So Wednesday through Sunday, I just tried to catch up on some sleep and some housekeeping. On Friday, I drove to Midland to have lunch and hang out with my friend Lauren which was the highlight of my week! Saturday and Sunday, I didn't feel great though. I think I may have caught the cold going around : /

Have a great rest of the week!

KONY 2012

I don't know if you've heard of Invisible Children Incorporated. But I hope you have.

I supported and participated IC in high school and a little in college but got distracted from it the last couple of years. To put it in a few short words, its an organization that sheds light on the abuses of people, mostly children, in Uganda and its surrounding countries by the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA for short) and their leader, Joseph Kony.

This video is about their latest campaign, to put an end to Kony's power by arresting him. Obama, though he may not be your favorite, has done a great thing in sending American troops to Uganda in November. Please watch this video. I know its long, but once you start it, you'll be so glad you did. Even if you can't wait the whole thing.

Thank you if you watched it!

Laundry Room Progress

We're not done yet but it is already looking so much better!

A little over a week ago, it still looked like this...

I had started it a whole two weeks before but when my grandmother passed away, it got put on hold for a little. So just the edges of the room had been painted.

The weekend before last, I finished painting the whole room. And then last weekend, I painted all of the cabinets and came home yesterday to them installed by Kanyon! I got to work immediately putting all of our stuff back into the laundry room and out of the back bedroom, which looked like this with all of our laundry stuff in it.

And now, we have this!

Woohoo! There's still work to be done obviously. The countertop needs to be installed and shelves built between the cabinets. There will also be another built in countertop and clothing rack on the right wall but we're not positive how that will look yet. Oh and hardware.

But I'm happy we got the bulk of it done!

Floral.

Kanyon thinks that we probably don't need to take pictures of what may look like the same belts over and over again but I do. I like documenting his work and I hope you like seeing it!

I really liked this particular pattern. He made this belt for our friend, Quentin. I stared at the pattern for a while looking at all the detail. Its amazing the amount of work that goes into each belt.

It just floors me.

Have a great weekend! I'm hoping to get my laundry room cabinets painted!
