I have lots of things to show you - some new leather work, some house stuff, some farming stuff. But I wanted to show you the little progress I've made on our guest room.
This is what it looked like two weeks ago ... too bright, kinda clutter-ish style of decorating, definitely looking more like my college days than matching our house now.
This is how it looks now. Baby steps.
I moved the bed to not be angled from the corner anymore and it already made the room look bigger. I took down the denim curtains and finally installed bamboo roman shades on the window. I installed a double curtain rod and hung up some curtains I already had. I'm going to hand a valance above them later on.
I also am trying to primarily use lamp light in this room because it warms the room up considerably. I took down all of the wall decor except for the shelf that is screwed in and will see what I want to put back up later. The next step will be the bedding and making the valance, which my mother-in-love so graciously offered to do!
We talked bedding for a while when we first decided to do this and we decided to just go with a white bedspread to make a cleaner look. The fabric that we are using is primarily black and brown floral with some red, yellow, and greens. Its beautiful, sorry I don't have a picture but I'll wait to show it once everything is done. So since the fabric is busy, a low key white is what we are looking for.
Low-key white is kind of hard for me to choose, though, because I've always been a deep color kind of girl... hence the green on the walls. SO... I couldn't help myself and I bought another quilt that I loooove but may be too busy with the fabric. I don't know, we'll see.
Here are the quilts I ordered.
The white one:
And the back up because choosing white is so foreign to me:
Let me know what y'all think!
Out of the fabric, we will make pillow shams, a bed skirt, a throw for the bottom of the bed, and the valance.
I'm excited!
Hi Erika,
ReplyDeleteI love the white quilt but I agree buying solid is hard to do. The white one is lovely and the blue/violet walls with all the white trim and accessories doesn't hurt any either!! I love bedrooms that are this simple, crisp and relaxing BUT I can't seem to put one together. I can't wait to see what you do to finish your guest room out.
Thanks for stopping by my blog and leaving me a trail to yours. I really need to get back to blogging again.
